It all ended in divorce.
A family torn by hateful discourse.
A father, with no reason.
A mother, hurt by treason.
One son understands it.
The younger son resents it.
The daughter hates it.
A volatile composite.
The house got sold,
Lawyers were called.
The dogs moved to the daughter’s,
The older son was emotionally farther.
The younger moved into a basement,
With no walls, and a floor of cement.
Happy for a place to stay,
Promising, to never make his children,
Live this way.
I feel the wounds of divorce in your words. Very accurate and emotionally right on!

I understand. I went through a divorce several years ago. I felt my own pain, too.

Each person goes through their individual trauma as you have illustrated so well. Sadly, history has a way of repeating itself unless we consciously break the patterns.

For sure. That’s a goal of mine. A lot of poems I write are empathetic, trying to put myself into other’s shoes. This particular one was very real and “close to home” so to speak. Thank you for the comment, I’ll break the cycle 😉

It’s not breaking the patterns . More to true living not to live in pretense that things cannot work out already . Cause in long term , it will be too late to realises that the ” pretext ” of in a marital that didnot work & harms more to individuals. Best to divorce than long term misery ?

You have to realises a marriage cannot work in pretext that it does. Causes more misery in long term is worst pain to both individuals.
What do i know ? Only the involved knew themselfs .
Wisdom counts.

When one has chosen happiness over the prolonged miserables to want divorce , i ‘d say , divorce is a better beginning to new .
Donot say at age 65 , u hope to have made a wiser decision at age60 before.
Children grew up fast , soon they hv their own lives. By age80 , thats when the pursuance of sheer happiness is named : Regrets .
